2019 Summer Missions

Eastern NC Mission
Youth, College & Adults
June 15 - 21
$120 Per Person

In September of 2018, Hurricane Florence made landfall in eastern North Carolina dropping over 35 inches of rain.  Property losses topped $17        billion in North Carolina alone.  It is estimated that over 100,000 homes in North Carolina were  affected. Early in the response, North Carolina Baptists provided over 1 million hot meals to residents.

Today, a monumental rebuild effort is underway, being led by North Carolina Baptists. It is estimated that the rebuild process will take 2 - 3 years and require thousands of volunteers.

Our mission team will work in the coastal community of Shallotte, nestled halfway between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach.  North Carolina  Baptist on  Mission have personnel onsite who will coordinate projects on our behalf.

Mission work may include demolition and removal of water damaged floors, walls, siding, etc and repair/replacement of floors/walls, painting etc.  Construction materials are being provided through the generous gifts received since the disaster.

Construction experience is helpful, but not required.  For more information, see Brian Lockamy.

Children, grades 3-5  have the opportunity to participate in daily Bible Studies and worship with other children’s ministry groups. Each day children have multiple opportunities to choose what activities they would like to take part in. There are many options from a number of different sports, crafts, group games, dance and many more. We wrap up the evenings with special events such as a rec party, talent show and a night market. It will be a great week with lots of fun, making new friends and   focusing on missions.

Passport Youth

Each day, youth participate in a Bible Study with teens from other youth groups before travelling to a local mission site.  On site, youth may serve meals to the homeless, paint homes for deserving families and provide love and friendship to kids in the community.  Each evening, we come together for worship and recreation.  This year’s Rec Party is “Super Hero” themed.

Student Mission To Honduras
July 18-25
Youth, College & Adult
$1152 Per

New Hope has a strong and long lasting relationship with Baptists in Honduras.  For over 12 years, New Hope has sent teams of students and adults to share the love of Christ using the construction of a 19 foot x 25 foot cinder block home as an opportunity to build a relationship and share the love of Christ.

Mike and Ginger Greene, onsite missionaries,  are New Hope members and provide laison support to identify needs in the community.  Construction, Door to Door Evangelism, Children’s VBS Camps, Sports Camps and Women’s Bible Studies are just  a few of the mission options available for our team.  Teams will receive training on witnessing in the  Honduran culture.  Because this mission is more intense, participants must be age 16 or older to participate.

For more information, see Brian Lockamy.

New Hope offers three fundraisers to help support  summer missions.    Each fall, we hold a Golf  Tournament for the next summer’s trips.  On April 7, we will hold Spaghetti Lunch followed by a huge Yard Sale on April 27.  Funds are divided among all mission  participants  who  share  in  the  work load of the fundraisers.  International trips require 10 hours of fundraiser work while In-Country trips require 5. Hours are cumulative for your total number of trips.   The prices listed here do not yet include fundraiser proceeds.

The Missions Council has approved $10,000 to help support summer missions this year.  The trip prices listed here include Missions Council Support.
